RIP Ernie Banks
My old web server finally was replaced with this newer Virtual Machine based server.
If you are looking for my blog site it is now available here.
The download link for my resume is right here.
For those who are interested, I have recently uploaded a copy of vLot for download. The zip file includes all the files you need to run a virtual server and a car dealer website. Visit the Downloads page for more information.
This server runs inside a virtual machine on about 1.3 gb ram. The processor is an older 2.66gHz Intel Dual core. I am currently running just 3gb ram on Windows 7 and have plenty left over to run the LAMP stack appliance. Want a Virtual Machine for yourself? Get some VMWare and then download some Turnkey Linux Lamp Stack software.
You find it just like I did, by googling it! Of course if you are too lazy for all that typing and reading you could just go to the site listed below. You can also use VirtualBox from Oracle if you are a little more on the geek side, but VMWare Player is very easy to use, especially if you are just trying out your first Virtual Machine. Just visit the link below to find it.
You will need to install Proftpd into the Debian install on the Lamp stack. Easily done from the command line. You might also want to install putty.exe and a free ftp client (I use CoreFTP)) onto your Windoze side so you can get to a terminal window and FTP files easily. It would also really help to have a dynamic DNS host so you can run your server with a name like I do. I use ChangeIP.com for my DNS needs.
